Having got my 2023 Dartmoor Calendar to press, I set about clearing up and burning up after the winter! I will be distributing my calendars across and around the moor later this week, ready for the summer visitors. They will also be up on my website.
Swaling is done by farmers on Dartmoor in the winter months. The dense gorse is burnt to make room for the new growth of grass for the livestock grazing on the moor.
